Technology Symposium

The inaugural Technology Symposium, held on 20 March 2024, commenced with a warm welcome from Richard Dyason, Executive Director of IIA Singapore. His opening remarks set the tone for an insightful event focused on the latest advancements in analytics and data-driven audit approaches.

During the symposium, participants were engaged in Q&A segments facilitated via Pigeonhole, allowing for dynamic exchanges and discussions. Michael Ngoi, Senior Implementations Manager at Diligent, kicked off the session with a presentation on "Building a Data-Driven Audit Approach and Exploratory Data Analysis", providing insights into practical strategies for integrating data analytics into audit processes. Following Michael's presentation, Khoh Chih Jeun, Chief Internal Auditor for APAC & Middle East at Barclays, shared insights on "Leveraging Advanced Analytics in Internal Audit," alongside Ludovic Desmedt, Data Analytics Lead for Asia. Their expertise shed light on the evolving role of data analytics in enhancing internal audit practices. The symposium concluded with presentations from GIC speakers Vincent Cheang, Director of Internal Audit and Governor of IIA Singapore, and Xie Chao, Head of Data Analytics, Internal Audit, who provided valuable perspectives on "Large Language Models and their Applications in Internal Audit”.

Attendees lauded the symposium for its depth and quality content, with one participant expressing appreciation for the practical insights gained from real-world examples shared during the case studies. Another attendee commended on the informative nature of the presentations, noting that the pace, content, and depth were good.
